⚡ Physical Properties
“STAR AFX” is the advanced version of the TECHNYL STAR series, specifically designed for high glass fiber content (50%), achieving excellent glass fiber dispersion while maintaining ultra-high flowability.
“31N” is the grade-specific technology code for surface optimization and flow enhancement, compared to standard 50% glass fiber reinforced PA66:
📈 Flow Improvement of 30%-40%: Significantly increased spiral flow length enables filling of complex thin-wall molds
✨ Surface Quality Optimization: Maintains good surface finish even at 50% glass fiber content, with significantly reduced glass fiber exposure
🔗 Enhanced Interface Bonding: Special compatibilizer system improves fiber-matrix adhesion for superior mechanical properties

* Conditioned according to ISO 1110
• Ultra-High Rigidity: Dry tensile modulus of 17000 MPa, flexural modulus of 14000 MPa, flexural strength of 380 MPa — approaching the specific stiffness of die-cast aluminum, a core advantage for metal replacement.
• High Strength Retention: After conditioning, tensile modulus remains at 12500 MPa with stress at break of 180 MPa, maintaining excellent performance in humid environments.
• Excellent Impact Resistance: Despite 50% glass fiber content, dry Charpy impact strength reaches 100 kJ/m², with notched impact increasing to 21 kJ/m² after conditioning.
• Low Anisotropy: STAR AFX technology optimizes shrinkage differences between parallel and normal directions (0.3% vs 0.65%), delivering exceptional dimensional stability.
Compared to die-cast aluminum (density ~2.7 g/cm³), TECHNYL STAR AFX 218 V50 BK 31N (density 1.55 g/cm³) achieves over 40% weight reduction, while also offering:
• Elimination of secondary operations (drilling, tapping, surface finishing)
• Greater design freedom and part integration capabilities
• Excellent damping properties for reduced vibration and noise
• Superior corrosion resistance compared to metals
• 20%-30% reduction in total system cost
🌡️ Thermal Properties
| Melting Temperature (10°C/min) | 262°C |
| HDT (1.80 MPa) | 256°C |
• Melting point of 262°C, within standard PA66 processing range.
• HDT of 256°C (1.8 MPa) — top-tier performance for 50% glass fiber reinforced PA66, suitable for engine compartment and high-temperature structural applications.
• 218 heat stabilization platform ensures long-term thermal aging performance.
🔥 Burning Behaviour
| Flammability (0.75 mm) | HB Rating (UL 94) |
| Glow-Wire Flammability Index GWFI (0.75 mm) | 650°C |
| Glow-Wire Ignition Temperature GWIT (0.75 mm) | 675°C |
🔧 Processing Conditions
• Drying Temperature/Time: 80°C
• Suggested Max Moisture: 0.2%
• Material is supplied in airtight bags, ready for use. If moisture absorption occurs, dry with dehumidified air equipment (dew point ≤ -20°C) for 2-4 hours.
Injection Temperatures:
• Rear Zone: 265 – 275°C
• Middle Zone: 270 – 280°C
• Front Zone: 280 – 290°C
Recommended Mold Temperature:
• 60 – 90°C
• Up to 120°C for high surface quality requirements
• Due to the high glass fiber content (50%), use high-wear resistant screw and barrel components.
• Recommended steel grades: X38CrMoV5-1 (EN 1.2367/1.2343) or X160CrMoV12 (EN 1.2601/1.2379).
• STAR AFX’s high flowability allows lower injection pressures, helping to extend mold life.
• High injection speeds are recommended to fully leverage the material’s high flow characteristics.
⚠️ Injection Molding Advice
- Equipment Wear Protection — High glass fiber content causes significant wear; wear-resistant steel grades are essential.
- Process Window Control — Incorrect processing conditions can affect part quality and accelerate equipment wear.
- Utilize STAR AFX Flow Advantage — Use medium-to-high injection speeds, reducing injection pressure by 15%-25%.
- Avoid Material Residence — High glass fiber materials may degrade with prolonged residence time; control cycle times accordingly.
